Can you design my website for me instead?
I sure can. My pricing starts at $3,500. Click here to learn more.
How much technical or digital design experience is needed to sign up for this course?
This program is best for ages 16 -50+. I prefer to work with those who have little to zero experience, but even if you have a bit more experience, I promise you my coaching will give you a new perspective on your design.
Squarespace services are not intended for and may not be used by children under the age of 16. By using their services, you must represent that you're at least 16. I’m older than a college student but younger than 40.
I’d suggest you sign up for Tech Over 40 but be prepared to learn like your someone’s mom. We take our time until we get it right, and no question is a stupid question.
Should I schedule a consultation first?
This program has limited slots and a waiting list, so if you’re not sure we both this is the right program for you before you commit, you should schedule a free 15-minute chat.
What is Virtual Blended Learning?
This class is a combination of coached (guided) and DIY (self-paced) that follows a set schedule.
Course materials are available one week before each weekly virtual coaching session with specific due dates for assignments and tasks. This is to ensure that you complete the course within the defined time period.
DIY means it's up to you when you work on the assignments within the week, just as long as they are complete by the given deadlines.
Coached means you'll be given instructions to follow from the Instructor during the live sessions and within the eLearning portal. You are provided feedback and guidance during our live sessions.
How do 1:1 Sessions work?
1:1 (one-on-one) sessions are great for those who prefer to work alone. These time slots are limited, and book up quickly!
How do Small Group Sessions work?
It’s social + educational! This blended, personalized learning experience also doubles as a time to socialize. Consisting of five people, this experience is meant to be a safe space for brainstorming, fueling creativity. These sessions are longer than 1:1 sessions so that I can work with each member.
If you’d like to select your own small group members, click here. All payments from your group will need to be received before we launch your first session. There are no pro-rates for any members you invite to participate once we've already begun your group journey.
Why not just watch Youtube or other online videos to learn?
Youtube is great, but you will have virtual hands-on coaching from me during our scheduled sessions as well as virtual open office hours where you have the opportunity to get virtual hands-on training and get questions answered. I will check your work and make sure your content is properly placed and give you feedback for maximum results.
What other costs are associated with this course?
Squarespace web hosting is $16 monthly OR save 30% and pay $144 upfront for an annual subscription. Squarespace also offers a 50% discount on new annual plans to a current student or faculty member at an accredited college or university. Academic email address required for sign up. The discount isn't available for alumni or non-accredited institutions.
The other resources that you’ll use are either FREE or a small fee. That list of tools is included in the course.
What kind of content can I include on my site?
You'll only legally be allowed to use content that is your original material or that you have licensed from the originator. We will provide you with a list of resources to download photos, videos, and music for free or at a nominal fee.
Can I build an online store, Course, or membership site?
Online stores, courses, and membership sites are popular and great ways to make money, but the technology connection that goes into the launch is a bit more intricate than building a website. HOWEVER, it really isn’t rocket science and takes just a little bit more low-tech training. While the DIY Website course is for a basic design that doesn't include an eCommerce component, we can discuss additional software and coaching options if that is important to you. View samples of the eCourses that I’ve built with low-tech software on my About page.
Will my identity and data be safe when I pay for my course on your website?
See that little padlock in the right corner of the website address? That means the SSL is active, making sure the browser's connection and the website you are on are secure. Each site we build will have the same feature, securing your data and your website visitors' data. It makes sure things like login details or credit card information is handled securely so no one can get their hands on it. It makes sure that forms and messages sent through your website can't be tampered with.
What if I want to make portions or the entire site private?
You can hide your site or pages behind a password to prevent it from being publicly accessible. While your site is password-protected, visitors need to enter the password to open your site. This can be helpful if your website is under construction or if only certain people should see it. It isn't possible to create unique passwords for different people, so everyone will use the same password you create to access your site's content.
What are Live Office Hours?
Office hours are live group virtual calls where you'll have an opportunity to submit a question before the large group session. We'll also use these sessions to showcase work in progress from students who volunteer.
Are these sessions recorded?
Live office hours are recorded and sent to the entire community. The 1:1 and small group sessions are recorded and sent to the appropriate members privately so that you can refer back to them as needed.
What is the session rescheduling or cancellation policy?
Sorry, sessions cannot be rescheduled.
What is your refund policy?
We are happy to do a partial refund within 7 days of purchase, but we'll need to see that you attempted the work. Why partial? We have to turn down other students who could have been in your spot. Right when a student enrolls, we start working!
