Good morning. ☕ Pour something. This week three different rooms said the same quiet thing out loud. A filing room. A festival cabana. A Brussels chamber. Different scripts. Same move.

Oracle disclosed in its June 22 annual filing that it had cut 21,000 jobs over 12 months, roughly 13 percent of headcount, per Forbes reporting on the 10-K. The filing named AI adoption as a driver of the workforce reduction. Forbes reported the disclosure landed alongside a record quarter, with savings redirected into AI data center capex. Confirm figures against Oracle's own 10-K before quoting.

Cannes Lions 2026 opened its agentic era. On June 23, medianews4u reported Meta launched an end-to-end AI creative workspace where creative and media teams review performance, generate new creative, and test in one system, with agency workflows integrated at launch through WPP Open. Adweek reported major adtech players unveiled agentic marketing infrastructure the same week. The brief did not die. The person writing it changed.

The EU reached a provisional agreement on June 22 to delay key AI Act obligations, per Sidley Data Matters. Standalone high-risk AI systems get pushed to December 2, 2027. Embedded systems to August 2, 2028. Employment AI stays classified as high-risk. Deadlines moved. The rulebook did not.

A year ago the story would have been the quarter. This week the story was the filing. The company said in writing that AI is now inside the workforce line. On June 23, medianews4u reported Meta launched an end-to-end AI creative solution — a single workspace where creative and media teams review what is performing, generate new creative from those learnings, and test it. Meta integrated agency workflows into the system from the outset, beginning with collaboration through WPP Open. Adweek reported the agentic pattern extended across major adtech players at the festival.

The creative director who used to defend the brief now has to defend the workflow the brief plugs into. The freelance strategist who used to sell voice now has a new line item: translate strategy into an agentic system a CMO can hand to a workspace. Nobody on the org chart owns "Agentic Creative Systems Consultant" yet. That is the shape of a new offer.

On June 22, Sidley Data Matters reported that EU lawmakers reached a provisional agreement to delay key AI Act obligations. Standalone high-risk systems now apply from December 2, 2027. High-risk systems embedded in products get August 2, 2028. The Council formally approved the simplification package on June 29.

Per the AI Act, high-risk employment AI covers recruitment, candidate selection, performance evaluation, task allocation, worker monitoring, and decisions on promotion or termination. The deadlines moved. The classification did not. Every HR tech vendor and every internal talent team just got runway. They also got a rope to hang themselves with if they use the runway to keep waiting.

From today, the calendar puts standalone high-risk compliance roughly 18 months out and embedded roughly 26 months out. That is the window an AI disclosure architect can plan real client work against. Not a panic engagement. A book of business.
